All Special Event questions →- Do I need one-day event insurance? Yes, if a venue contract is in front of you, most venues require event liability coverage as a booking condition, with the venue named as additional insured and proof delivered by certificate. Hosts serving (not selling) alcohol usually add host liquor liability. One-day policies exist for exactly this and can be bought up to the day before the event.
- Does event insurance cover cancellation? It depends on whether you bought cancellation coverage. "Event insurance" is two different products sold under one name. Event liability covers injuries and property damage and is what venues require, while event cancellation reimburses non-refundable deposits when covered causes like vendor bankruptcy, extreme weather, or illness force you to cancel or postpone. A liability-only policy pays nothing for a called-off event.
